Attack on Kyiv and region: destruction at Rozetka, Nova Poshta, and Epicenter, death toll rises (Updated)
A massive Russian attack on the night of August 5 caused fires at warehouses, logistics complexes, enterprises, and commercial facilities in Kyiv and the region. Information about the destruction of logistics centers of two companies was confirmed. An ammonia system was also damaged in the capital, and large-scale fires sharply deteriorated air quality.
A warehouse of one of the stores caught fire in the Svyatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. In the Desnianskyi district, fires broke out in two non-residential buildings, and in the Obolonskyi district – in another non-residential structure. In the Holosiivskyi district, rescuers extinguished fires in two one-story buildings.
At another location in the Holosiivskyi district, a system containing about 300 liters of ammonia was damaged. Rescuers shut off the valves and localized the leak. According to city authorities, there is no threat to the public.
After the fires, monitoring stations in all districts of the capital recorded increased air pollution. On SaveEcoBot and AQICN maps, a significant portion of observation points showed orange and red levels in the morning, and at some stations the air quality index exceeded 150 with a norm of 50.
The highest readings were recorded in the north and west of Kyiv, particularly in the Obolonskyi and Svyatoshynskyi districts. Elevated pollution levels were also observed in the Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts. Online map data varies depending on smoke spread and station operation.
In Kyiv region, the greatest destruction was recorded in the Brovary district. Large-scale fires engulfed warehouse buildings in Brovary, Velyka Dymerka, Kvitneve, and Peremoha. Rescuers also reported damage to logistics complexes, production enterprises, and commercial facilities.
In the village of Chaiky, Bucha district, the fire at a warehouse building continued to be extinguished, while in Sofiivska Borshchahivka, the fire at a logistics enterprise was already extinguished. In Kalynivka, Fastiv district, rescuers put out a vehicle fire on the enterprise's territory.
Death toll rises to 17
According to the latest data, 17 people were killed and 44 were injured as a result of the massive strike on Kyiv and Kyiv region.
Eight people died at the Kvitneve railway station in Brovary district. According to the head of the district military administration, the train was delayed, so people did not manage to leave on the last run and stayed at the station during the missile attack.
After the strike, the government announced meetings with representatives of commercial and logistics companies. Authorities plan to discuss measures necessary for uninterrupted business operation and preservation of goods supply after the destruction of large warehouse complexes.
Nova Poshta sorting center destroyed
As a result of the night attack, the sorting center of Nova Poshta in Kyiv was also destroyed. The company stated that Russian forces used cluster munitions during the strike.
Three people died on the center's territory: two drivers of partner companies and a subcontractor's employee. Eight more people were injured. Nova Poshta reported that it is in contact with the families of the deceased and injured and provides them with assistance.
The company continues to assess the consequences of the attack. Customers will receive compensation for the full declared value of damaged shipments. Nova Poshta representatives will contact each customer to clarify reimbursement details.

The largest Rozetka warehouse in Brovary destroyed
As a result of the night Russian strike, the largest distribution warehouse complex of Rozetka in Brovary, Kyiv region, was destroyed. According to company co-founder Iryna Chechotkina, the facility was hit by three ballistic missiles.
The complex was opened in early 2017. It was the largest and most automated warehouse of the company, processing over 100,000 orders daily.
According to preliminary assessment, the destroyed facility cannot be restored. At the same time, no employees were harmed as a result of the strike.
Rozetka emphasized that the company continues to work and fulfill orders. The strike occurred on the day the company turned 21 years old.
Epicenter loses two warehouses and halts plant after attack
Epicenter company reported the destruction of two large warehouse complexes and a production site as a result of the night Russian attack. The logistics center on Viskozna Street in Kyiv completely burned down, and the complex in Kalynivka suffered direct missile hits.
One of the missiles hit the Epicentr Ceramic Corporation plant. The explosion destroyed all production furnaces, forcing the enterprise to fully stop operations. According to the company's statement, one of Ukraine's largest ceramic tile manufacturers has essentially been lost.
An employee parking lot near the logistics complex was also destroyed: 20 cars completely burned out. In Kalynivka, a company employee was killed, and three other employees were injured and are in the hospital.
To avoid supply disruptions, production is planned to be relocated to two of the company's foreign plants. At the same time, Epicenter is preparing to launch production at another plant in Ukraine.
According to preliminary estimates, restoration of the destroyed enterprise will take at least a year and a half, and most likely around two years. The company has not yet announced the final amount of damage.
