Ukraine will conduct an urgent inspection of all civil protection shelters. Special attention will be paid to the condition of protective structures and the ability of citizens to access them unhindered during an air raid alert.

This was reported by Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretskyi. According to him, the inspection should cover shelters across the entire country.

The responsible services must assess whether the protective structures are kept in proper condition and ready to receive people. It will also be checked whether the entrances to the shelters remain accessible to the public.

The accessibility of protective structures is particularly important during Russian missile and drone attacks. A closed or unusable shelter cannot perform its main function—to ensure the safety of people.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the inspection must be conducted without delay. However, the specific deadlines for its completion, the list of responsible agencies, and the procedure for rectifying identified violations are not specified in the statement.

Based on the inspection results, the authorities must obtain up-to-date information on the condition of the protective structures fund and identify facilities where proper maintenance or free access for citizens must be ensured.

The State Emergency Service recommends finding out in advance the location of the nearest shelter. If a protective structure is in inadequate condition or closed during an alert, citizens are advised to contact the hotlines of local authorities.
