Ukraine lost about 50 thousand servicemen killed on the battlefield since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in an interview with the American TV channel Fox News.

Answering a question about Ukrainian losses, the head of state noted that he does not want to disclose too much information, as it could be used by the Russian side.

"If compared with Ukraine, it's really very hard to talk about it. Frankly speaking, I don't want to be too open, because the Russians will understand what is happening with our army. We have about 50 thousand fallen military, about 400 thousand wounded, and also a huge number of missing in action", - Zelensky said.

Fox News published a video fragment of the interview on July 30.

The approximate number of dead named by the president somewhat differs from previous data. In February 2026, Zelensky told the France 2 channel that officially 55 thousand career and mobilized Ukrainian servicemen had died on the battlefield. He did not give an exact number of missing in action, only noting that such people were "a lot".

Zelensky has previously stated a figure close to 400 thousand wounded. In an interview with NBC News in February 2025, the president spoke about over 46 thousand dead military and approximately 380 thousand wounded.

In December 2024, the head of state reported 370 thousand cases of providing aid to the wounded. He specified that this statistic took into account light and repeated wounds, and about half of servicemen returned to duty after treatment.
