Detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security have uncovered illegal production and sale of adulterated fuel in three regions of Ukraine. The total value of the seized property is approximately UAH 50 million.

According to the investigation, during 2026 a group of individuals produced fuel using special equipment. The suspects mixed components of unknown origin, and the resulting fuel mixture did not meet state quality standards.

The adulterated fuel was sold through controlled gas stations in Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The BEB did not disclose the names and addresses of the gas stations.

Law enforcement officers conducted authorized searches at the production, storage, and sale sites of the fuel. As a result of the investigative actions, the following were seized:

  • 233 thousand liters of liquid with a pungent odor, similar to gasoline;
  • 25 tons of stable gas condensate;
  • 24 tons of multifunctional thinner;
  • mobile phones, accounting documentation, and rough notes.

Currently, law enforcement is establishing the full circle of persons involved in the illegal production and distribution of fuel. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Operational support was provided by employees of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police with the assistance of the State Tax Service. Procedural guidance is provided by prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
