Inflation accelerates in Poland
Consumer inflation in Poland in July 2026 was 3% year-on-year. In June, prices of goods and services were 2.5% higher than a year earlier.
This is according to a preliminary estimate from Statistics Poland. The figure matched the average economist forecast.
One of the main reasons for the acceleration of inflation was the end of the government program "Fuel Cheaper" - Ceny Paliwa Niżej. From the beginning of July, the reduced VAT rate and state-set maximum retail prices for gasoline and diesel fuel ceased to apply. The reduced excise duty rate was abolished in mid-June.
After the program ended, prices at Polish gas stations rose markedly. Earlier, the National Bank of Poland also forecast that the removal of support would increase the dynamics of fuel and energy prices in July.
According to Poland's Ministry of Finance, the implementation of the CPN program cost the state budget about 4.7 billion zlotys. It was in effect from late March to June 30, 2026.
Despite the acceleration, inflation remains within the allowable range of the National Bank of Poland. The regulator's target is 2.5% with a possible deviation of one percentage point in either direction.
Final and detailed data on price changes in individual categories will be published by Statistics Poland in August.
