Explosion with subsequent detonation occurred at a training ground near Khmelnytskyi - SSO (Updated)

Several explosions occurred in Khmelnytskyi on the afternoon of July 31. After the first explosion, a large column of smoke appeared over the city, and residents of nearby areas reported sounds of possible secondary detonation.

Local Telegram channels reported the explosions. Residents heard the first loud sound at around 11:52. Over the next hour, explosions and sounds of detonation intermittently stopped and resumed.

The Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration confirmed that several explosions occurred in the regional center.

"According to preliminary information, there are no casualties. All relevant services are working at the site. The circumstances and details of the incident are being established," the RMA reported.

The authorities have not yet named the cause of the explosions. It has also not been officially reported at which facility the incident occurred.

According to the local Telegram channel "Khmelnytskyi LIVE," a fire broke out at the scene after the explosions. The column of smoke was visible from various parts of the city and even beyond Khmelnytskyi.

Residents of the Ruzhichna and Dubove districts reported repeated explosions and detonation. Locals were urged to limit their time outdoors near the incident site.

Social media also featured reports of damage to residential buildings in the Dubove neighborhood. According to eyewitness accounts, debris damaged a window of one entrance, and the blast wave damaged a balcony.
