Hamas agrees to disarm on condition of Israel's withdrawal from Gaza

Palestinian group Hamas confirmed its agreement to a phased disarmament, but linked the implementation of the deal to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip. This was stated by Hamas negotiation team member Ghazi Hamad.

According to him, the deal also involves the opening of border crossings and a halt to Israeli attacks. Hamad stressed that Hamas would not fulfill its part of the agreement unless Israel complies with its commitments.

The proposed plan includes a transfer of weapons under the control of a new Palestinian administration, dismantling of Hamas military infrastructure, and a handover of power in Gaza to a technocratic administration. Disarmament is to take place in stages under international supervision.

At the same time, Israel has not yet confirmed final approval of the new agreement. One of the main disputed issues remains the sequence of actions: the Israeli side demands that Hamas disarm before troop withdrawal, while the group insists on guarantees for the Israeli army's exit.

Earlier, Kurs.com.ua reported that US President Donald Trump announced a deal on Hamas disarmament as part of a peace plan for Gaza.
