SBI Reveals Interim Results of Operation Against Abuses in Territorial Military Commissariats

The State Bureau of Investigations reported the intermediate results of the nationwide special operation "Honest Conscription", aimed at identifying corruption, violence, and other abuses in the army recruitment system. Law enforcement officers conducted 61 searches, and 15 individuals were notified of suspicion.

Investigation activities were carried out as part of separate criminal proceedings. Among the suspects are officials from territorial enlistment and social support centers, as well as a police officer.

The SBI notes that the operation covers various types of potential offenses related to the conduct of mobilization events. It is not about a single overarching scheme, but about several episodes, the circumstances of which are being investigated separately.

Law enforcement officers are examining possible corruption crimes, abuse or overuse of official authority, use of violence, and other illegal actions. Investigators are determining the role of each suspect, the circle of possible accomplices, and the consequences of the identified violations.

The conducted searches and announced suspicions are intermediate results of the special operation. Investigative and procedural actions are ongoing, so the number of suspects and the qualification of individual episodes may change as evidence is collected.

The agency stated that the goal of the operation is to cleanse the recruitment system of corruption and abuses. The SBI intends to ensure that officials who use their granted powers for personal gain or violate the rights of citizens are held accountable.

The work of territorial enlistment centers remains one of the priority areas for law enforcement agencies. Investigations concern both the illegal exemption of conscripts from mobilization and interference with registration data, obtaining undue advantage, and possible unlawful treatment of citizens.

However, the notification of suspicion is a stage of criminal proceedings and does not imply proven guilt. The final assessment of each suspect's actions must be made by the court.
