Zelenskyy held a phone call with Vance: what they discussed
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with US Vice President JD Vance. One of the main topics was the supply of interceptors for Patriot systems, which Ukraine needs to defend against Russian ballistic missiles.
Zelenskyy called the conversation good and said that the parties discussed the results of his recent meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington. The Ukrainian leader described this meeting as positive and productive.
The president stressed that Russia continues to carry out airstrikes on Ukraine's territory. Therefore, strengthening air defense, in particular obtaining interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, remains Kyiv's top priority.
Patriot systems are used to counter various aerial targets, but their ability to intercept ballistic missiles is especially important for Ukraine. Kyiv regularly appeals to partners to speed up the supply of relevant ammunition.
In addition, Zelenskyy and Vance discussed the consequences of Russia's war on global markets. The Ukrainian president did not provide details of this part of the conversation.
The parties agreed that the Ukrainian and American teams will continue to cooperate and work through the issues raised during the phone call.
Zelenskyy thanked the United States for supporting Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
