Drone development center and Wildberries warehouse attacked in Russia

On the night of August 3, fires broke out at the Shukhov Belgorod State Technological University and at the large Wildberries logistics complex in the Vladimir region of Russia.

After a drone attack, a large-scale fire broke out in the building of the Belgorod State Technological University. Russian authorities did not officially disclose the consequences of the strike on the facility.

The university had previously announced the development and testing of unmanned systems. Specifically, its specialists designed an automated UAV control system based on a Russian microprocessor. Belgorod State Technological University claimed that the development is for civilian use and can be used for monitoring power lines, heating mains, and aerial photography.

In the summer of 2026, the university also organized a training program for schoolchildren on the digital design of unmanned aerial systems. Participants were offered to study the basics of drone creation.

Another strike occurred in the Sobinsky district of the Vladimir region. Regional governor Alexander Avdeev reported an attack on a warehouse complex, resulting in damage. People were evacuated from the territory of the facility.

Wildberries confirmed that a fire broke out at its warehouse. There was no information about casualties or the extent of losses at the time of publication.

The logistics center is located near the village of Khryastovo. The first phase of the complex, with an area of 58.5 thousand square meters, was opened at the end of 2024. After completion of construction, its area was expected to reach approximately 175 thousand square meters, with a capacity of up to 120 million units of goods.

This is not the first attack on Wildberries infrastructure. Earlier, KURS Ukraine reported on drone strikes on the logistics centers of the marketplace and an oil refinery in two regions of Russia.

According to estimates previously given by Russian media, a series of strikes may have destroyed about 8% of Wildberries' warehouse space. Losses affected not only the marketplace, but also thousands of sellers whose goods were stored in its warehouses.
