Sweden allocated around €627,000 for Ukraine's healthcare

Sweden has allocated approximately €627,000 to support the healthcare sector in Ukraine, primarily through training and various partnership programs.On August 3, the press service of the Swedish government announced this, according to Європейська правда.

The Swedish government has decided to allocate 6.9 million Swedish kronor (around €627,000) to strengthen the healthcare sector in Ukraine.

The funds will be used to finance training, exchange of experience and similar partnerships between entities in Ukraine and Sweden, including from the business sector. The project is implemented by the Swecare foundation, which engages the public and private sectors, as well as academics, in its initiatives.

The priority areas are oncology, rehabilitation and prosthetics, prevention of infectious diseases, combating antimicrobial resistance, and management of medical institutions. Among other things, support will be provided for the development of a training program for radiologists.

Previously, Sweden allocated approximately €140 million for energy support to Ukraine ahead of winter.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide €50 million in the form of a loan for "energy" support to Kyiv ahead of the next heating season.
