On Tuesday, August 4, the National Bank set the following official exchange rates: - US dollar – 44.7876 UAH (+0.1481 UAH to the official rate on Monday, August 3); - euro – 51.6423 UAH (+0.3694 UAH to the official rate on Monday, August 3).
The rates were set at 16:00 on August 3 and reflect the following trends:
1. On the first working day of August, the activity of trading participants on the interbank foreign exchange market increased noticeably. As a result, non-cash dollar quotes went up immediately after the start of trading and by 13:23 reached 44.9025 UAH on the bid side. The average transaction price at 12:00 was 44.7331 UAH – about 6 kopecks higher than last Friday at the same time. This average price was due to the fact that in the first minutes of trading, the NBU sold about 80 million dollars at a price of 44.71-44.73 UAH. After lunch, transactions were made at prices ranging from 44.80 to 44.89 UAH. As a result, the average transaction price rose even more by the end of trading. Therefore, the National Bank raised the official dollar exchange rate for Tuesday, August 4, by almost 15 kopecks.
2. The euro on the international FOREX market on Monday night rose to 1.1559 dollars, after which it began to fall. At the time of fixing, the euro was sold at 1.15305 – 44.5 points higher than last Friday (1.1486 dollars). Therefore, the National Bank raised the official euro exchange rate by almost 37 kopecks.
The cash dollar rate continued to decline today, which began last week. If last Friday evening the dollar was sold at 44.79-44.80 UAH, today its price dropped to 44.76-44.77 UAH. In Odessa, the dollar fell by 1 kopeck, in Lviv – by 3, and in Dnipro – by 7 kopecks. Only the cash dollar rate in Kharkiv reacted to the growth on the interbank market, rising by 6 kopecks, to 44.90 UAH.
