Trump Accuses Iran of Double Game in Negotiations

US President Donald Trump has criticized Iran's leadership following Tehran’s statement denying any negotiations with Washington. The American leader asserts that contacts between the parties have already begun and will continue in the near future.

Trump called the stance of the Iranian authorities “incredibly two-faced.” According to his version, Iran's representatives were the ones seeking a meeting themselves, yet after the contacts began they publicly declared that they are discussing the situation only with Oman.

The US President also threatened to continue the naval blockade of Iran until a deal is reached or Tehran’s complete surrender. He claims that American naval forces are controlling the passage of ships and supplies into the country.

“Nothing will be allowed into Iran unless a deal is reached or complete surrender, Trump wrote.

He once again stressed that the US will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Tehran is not negotiating with Washington and does not plan to receive an American delegation or to send one of its own.

According to Baghaei, the Iranian side is discussing with Oman only the establishment of a temporary safe route for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. According to Tehran, those consultations are not linked to the United States.

Prior to this, Trump said he postponed new large-scale strikes on Iran and decided to give diplomacy extra time. He stated that the talks are to start on August 3, but did not specify their format or list of participants.
