Morawiecki Announces Creation of a New Party in Poland

Former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has announced his intention to create a new political party. The formation is expected to appear no later than 15 October 2026, and the politician himself will become its leader.

Morawiecki made this announcement in an interview on the YouTube channel Rymanowski Live. The new party is planned to be presented at the congress of the Rozwój Plus association, scheduled for 15 October.

The name of the future party has not yet been officially announced. Its organizational foundation will be the Rozwój Plus association founded by Morawiecki, around which a group of former representatives of the Law and Justice party (PiS) has formed.

The decision was made against the backdrop of a conflict between Morawiecki and his supporters and the leadership of PiS led by Jarosław Kaczyński. In July, the party leadership demanded that its politicians withdraw from associations engaged in political activity. The demand primarily concerned Rozwój Plus.

The members of the association refused to comply with the ultimatum. Following this, the PiS leadership initiated a procedure to review their continued membership in the party. The list of politicians who did not submit the required statements or used a different form included 44 individuals.

According to Morawiecki, the PiS leadership sought to oust his supporters from the party from the very beginning. He stated that after their membership effectively ended, the creation of an independent political force became inevitable.

"Now that our membership has become dead, that is, we have been completely removed from Law and Justice, I can say that we will indeed create such a party no later than 15 October," — the former prime minister said.

Politicians associated with Rozwój Plus have already formed a separate parliamentary group. Morawiecki previously stated that his association includes 40 MPs of the Sejm, one senator, and three members of the European Parliament.

What the Morawiecki movement proposes

Representatives of Rozwój Plus name demography, migration, economic development, and cooperation with local authorities as the key areas of their programme.

Among the proposals is the introduction of a so-called parental salary for people raising children up to the age of three. The payment should correspond to the minimum wage, which currently amounts to about 4800 zloty before tax. The period of childcare is also proposed to be taken into account when calculating pension capital.

In migration policy, the movement advocates a points-based system for selecting foreigners and annual limits on the issuance of visas — approximately from 30 to 40 thousand. In addition, it is proposed to create a separate service for migration control and the deportation of offenders, operating on the model of the American ICE.

Morawiecki held the position of Prime Minister of Poland from 2017 to 2023. After PiS moved into opposition, he remained one of the party's most influential representatives, but relations between his supporters and Kaczyński's circle gradually deteriorated.
