Cabinet Appoints Yurii Myronenko as Deputy Minister of Defense
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has appointed Yurii Myronenko as Deputy Minister of Defense. His key task will be to accelerate decision-making based on the real needs of Ukrainian service members.
The personnel decision was announced by the government's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
The Ministry of Defense expects Myronenko to help establish prompt feedback between frontline units and the department's leadership. Information received from the military should be analyzed faster and taken into account when adjusting plans, programs, and management decisions.
The main focus will be on how the Defense Ministry's decisions work in practice. This will allow problems to be identified in a timely manner, enable quicker responses to unit requests, and scale up effective solutions for the Defense Forces.
Previously, Myronenko held the position of Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense. In that role, he was responsible for objectively assessing the state of affairs in the troops and the effectiveness of decisions made, as well as obtaining real information from the front.
Yurii Myronenko already served as Deputy Minister of Defense from July 2025. In March 2026, the government dismissed him from this position at his own request, after which he continued working in the department as Inspector General.
Prior to working at the Ministry of Defense, Myronenko headed the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine. After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he served in the 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, and later commanded a combined unmanned aerial vehicle unit of the State Special Communications Service.
At the defense department, Myronenko also worked on developing the DELTA situational awareness system, implementing the Mission Control platform for planning unmanned unit operations, scaling up defense technologies, and reforming the weapons codification procedure.
