Britain's new prime minister criticized for taking a vacation two weeks into office

Prime Minister of Britain Andy Burnham will be on vacation until the end of the week, with opponents accusing him of a frivolous attitude to work. This is reported by The Times, according to Європейська правда.

It became known that aides insisted the prime minister carry out his vacation plans after an exhausting by-election campaign in Makerfield, followed by preparations for taking office as prime minister.

Downing Street declined to say where the prime minister is going on family vacation. He will be accompanied by personal bodyguards.

Burnham's official spokesperson said: "The government continues to operate as usual: the prime minister remains in contact with officials, holds meetings, and receives regular updates on government affairs."

Louise Haigh, the first secretary of state, will be the highest-ranking government minister officially working this week, but sources emphasize that she will not be acting prime minister.

Lee Anderson, chairman of the Reform UK party, accused Burnham of running away from work.

"After only two weeks in office, Andy Burnham is already tired. After abandoning a series of unfunded promises and allowing over 2,000 illegal migrants to enter our country, he has fled abroad to have fun. This is not a prime minister who takes governing seriously", he said.

Usually Downing Street does not disclose details of the prime minister's travel plans for national security reasons.

David Cameron, when he was prime minister, flew easyJet budget flights to join his family on holiday. The airline had to change seat bookings to accommodate him on board, freeing up space for his security. He was regularly photographed on board the budget carrier, eating Pringles chips with headphones on.
