Apple Temporarily Removed Telegram from the App Store
The Telegram messenger disappeared from the App Store in Ukraine and several other countries for a few hours on August 4. The application was later returned to Apple's store, and it is now available for download again.
According to Bloomberg, Apple temporarily removed Telegram after discovering content on the platform that violated the company's rules regarding materials involving child sexual abuse. Apple did not release further details about the violations found.
Later, messenger representatives told Reuters that the application had been restored to the store and would gradually become available to all users.
The temporary removal did not mean the service itself was blocked. Users who already had Telegram on their devices could continue using the messenger, but new users could not install it via the App Store for some time.
As of the morning of August 4, Telegram is once again available in the Ukrainian App Store. The application page shows version 12.9.1, released a few days ago.
Telegram has over one billion active users worldwide. The platform has repeatedly faced claims from regulators and tech companies over the spread of illegal content and its moderation system.
