Ukrainian customs switch to EU digital standards: changes for business

The Ministry of Finance has approved an updated digital development plan for the State Customs Service until 2030. It envisages the creation and modernization of electronic systems compatible with the customs infrastructure of the European Union.

According to Ministry of Finance Order No. 406 of July 27, new digital solutions will cover import and export processing, international transit, advance notification of goods movement, and centralized customs clearance.

Development of the automated customs clearance system, risk management system, and the 'Single Window for International Trade' portal will also continue.

For business, the plan's implementation should mean more electronic services, reduced paper document flow, simplified interaction with customs authorities, and potential acceleration of customs procedures.

New IT systems will be built on a modular principle, so they can be gradually updated and integrated without a complete replacement of existing solutions.

At the same time, the Ministry of Finance announcement does not provide exact launch dates for individual services. The plan defines the overall direction for the digital transformation of customs by 2030.
