Fire Point Prepares First Ballistic Missile Test and Develops Its Own Turbojet Engine

Ukrainian defense company Fire Point plans to conduct the first flight test of the FP-9 ballistic missile with a claimed range of 850 kilometers in autumn 2026. Company CEO Iryna Terekh revealed this in an interview with The War Zone.

According to her, the missile was designed with the potential to strike targets as far as Moscow. The navigation system and other main components of the FP-9 are already complete, and the company is finishing the solid-fuel engine.

Engines for the missile are already being cast, after which Fire Point will be able to move on to the first launches. Terekh did not name an exact date, as technical delays may occur during development.

The FP-9 requires about 4.6 tonnes of solid rocket fuel. To implement the project, the company had to create new production infrastructure and essentially rework part of the technology for manufacturing large solid-fuel engines.

Fire Point is also developing its own turbojet engine for the Flamingo cruise missile. The company is already assembling the first ten prototypes and plans to complete their testing by the end of 2026, so it can move to serial production in 2027.

Another project is the creation of the FP-7.x anti-aircraft missile, which is to become a cheaper and more mass-produced alternative to Patriot interceptors. Fire Point expects to bring its serial cost down to less than 1 million euros and initially produce at least 2,000 of these missiles per year.
