Attack on Kyiv and the region: Rozetka and Epicentr warehouses destroyed, over 10 casualties (Updated)

A massive Russian attack on the night of August 5 caused fires at warehouses, logistics complexes, enterprises, and commercial facilities in Kyiv and the region. Information about the destruction of logistics centers of two companies has been confirmed. A system containing ammonia was also damaged in the capital, and air quality sharply deteriorated due to large-scale fires.

In the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, a warehouse of one of the stores caught fire. In the Desnianskyi district, fires broke out in two non-residential buildings, and in the Obolonskyi district – in another non-residential structure. In the Holosiivskyi district, rescuers extinguished fires in two single-story buildings.

At another location in the Holosiivskyi district, a system containing about 300 liters of ammonia was damaged. Rescuers shut off the shut-off valves and localized the leak. According to city authorities, there is no threat to the population.

After the fires, monitoring stations in all districts of the capital recorded increased air pollution. On the SaveEcoBot and AQICN maps, a significant portion of observation points showed orange and red levels in the morning, and at individual stations, the air quality index exceeded 150, while the norm is up to 50.

The highest readings were recorded in the north and west of Kyiv, particularly in the Obolonskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts. Increased pollution levels were also observed in the Solomianskyi, Darnytskyi, and Dniprovskyi districts. Online map data changes depending on smoke dispersion and station operations.

In Kyiv region, the greatest destruction was recorded in the Brovary district. Large-scale fires engulfed warehouse buildings in Brovary, Velyka Dymerka, Kvitneve, and Peremoha. Rescuers also reported damage to logistics complexes, manufacturing enterprises, and commercial facilities.

In the village of Chaiky in the Bucha district, the extinguishing of a warehouse fire was ongoing, while in Sofiivska Borshchahivka, a fire at a logistics enterprise has already been extinguished. In Kalynivka, Fastiv district, rescuers put out a fire involving vehicles on the enterprise’s territory.

Judging by the published photos, the Nova Poshta logistics center may have been hit. Telegram channels also report the destruction of Rozetka and Novus warehouses.

According to preliminary data, one person died in Kyiv, and the number of injured rose to 15. In the Kyiv region, 14 people died and 22 were injured due to the strikes. Ukrzaliznytsia added that the dead were found, among other places, on a railway platform near the attacked logistics centers.

Information about the consequences of the attack is being clarified, and work at the damaged sites continues. 

The largest Rozetka warehouse in Brovary destroyed

As a result of a nighttime Russian strike, the largest distribution warehouse complex of Rozetka in Brovary, Kyiv region, was destroyed. According to company co-founder Iryna Chechotkina, the facility was hit by three ballistic missiles.

The complex was opened in early 2017. It was the company's largest and most automated warehouse, processing over 100,000 orders daily.

According to a preliminary assessment, the destroyed facility cannot be restored. At the same time, no employees were injured as a result of the strike.

Rozetka emphasized that the company continues to operate and fulfill orders. The strike occurred on the day the company turned 21.

Epicentr lost two warehouses and stopped a factory after the attack

Epicentr company reported the destruction of two large warehouse complexes and a production site as a result of the nighttime Russian attack. The logistics center on Viskozna Street in Kyiv was completely burned down, and the complex in Kalynivka sustained direct missile hits.

One of the missiles hit the "Epicentr Ceramic Corporation" plant. The explosion destroyed all production kilns, forcing the enterprise to completely stop operations. According to the company, one of the largest ceramic tile productions in Ukraine has actually been lost.

Employee parking near the logistics complex was also destroyed: 20 cars were completely burned. One employee died in Kalynivka, and three more workers were wounded and are in the hospital.

To avoid supply disruptions, production is planned to be moved to two of the company’s foreign facilities. At the same time, Epicentr is preparing to launch product manufacturing at another plant in Ukraine.

According to preliminary estimates, the reconstruction of the destroyed enterprise will take at least a year and a half, and most likely about two years. The company has not yet named the final amount of damages.
