Drones attack oil refinery in Russian Ufa

In the Russian city of Ufa on the morning of August 5, a fire broke out on the territory of an oil refining enterprise after a drone attack. According to an analysis of published videos and photographs, Astra identified the site of the fire as the Bashneft-Novoyl plant.

The monitoring channel Exilenova+ reported at least two hits. The published footage shows a drone flying toward the industrial zone, flashes, and a column of smoke over the facility. There was no official confirmation of the extent of the damage or data on casualties at the time of publication.

"Bashneft-Novoyl" is part of the Ufa oil refining complex along with the plants "Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim" and "Bashneft-UNPZ". The three enterprises are located next to each other, and their total capacity is about 23.5 million tons of raw material per year.

Bashneft facilities have already been attacked by drones. According to Astra, a fire broke out at the "Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim" plant on August 1 and at "Bashneft-UNPZ" on August 2. Previous strikes on the industrial zone of Ufa were also reported at the end of June and beginning of July.

Regional Russian authorities did not comment on the August 5 attack and its consequences as of the time of publication. The Ukrainian side also did not claim involvement in the strike.
