Dollar returned to growth after two days of decline
On Wednesday, August 5, importers became more active on the interbank foreign exchange market. Yesterday's decline in cashless dollar quotes prompted them to more actively submit purchase orders.
As a result, the cashless dollar rose from the opening 44.64-44.65 to 44.75 UAH on the 'bid' side. The National Bank took part in trading, periodically stepping in with interventions and thus keeping the dollar from rising too quickly.
On the interbank foreign exchange market of Ukraine on Wednesday, the euro trades in the range of 51.49-51.63 UAH on the 'bid' side - practically at the same level as yesterday and the day before yesterday. On the international FOREX market today, relative stability is observed; the euro trades in the range of 1.1523-1.1547 dollars.
Cash dollar prices, which had been falling for two consecutive days, went up again. If yesterday evening wholesale exchange offices in Kyiv were selling the dollar at 44.67 UAH, today by lunchtime - already at 44.72 UAH. In Lutsk the dollar is sold at 44.68 UAH, in Chernivtsi - at 44.70 UAH, in Mykolaiv and Poltava - at 44.75 UAH.
Ukrainian banks by 13:00 sell the dollar at prices ranging from 44.72 UAH in Bank Lviv to 45.25 UAH in Zaporizhzhia's Metbank. As for the euro, at the moment it can be purchased cheapest in Bank Lviv at 51.45 UAH.
Oil prices fell yesterday amid statements by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about the imminent reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. A barrel of the popular Brent crude fell to $78.10. Currently, Brent is trading in the range of $80.61-80.78 per barrel.
On crypto exchanges, prices for major cryptocurrencies edged up slightly on Wednesday. Bitcoin on the most popular cryptocurrency exchange Binance dropped to $64,549 per coin this morning, and Ethereum - to $1,882 per coin. Currently, Bitcoin is being sold at $64,120 - 64,130, and Ethereum - at $1,870-1,875 per coin.
