Moldova warns of electricity deficit: help from Ukraine may not be available

On August 6, Moldova may face a more severe electricity deficit than the one recorded the day before. This was warned by the country's Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, as quoted by Agora, according to Європейська правда.

Moreover, according to the head of government, the ability to cover this deficit through the purchase of emergency electricity may be limited.

In particular, he indicated that the Ukrainian side allegedly informed partners in Chisinau that they would not be able to provide emergency electricity supply.

"Unfortunately, the situation with energy supply looks very bad; most likely, or very probably, we will not be able to buy even emergency electricity. Therefore, even this emergency electricity, which costs two to three times more, we will not be able to purchase. At least, this is the response we received from 'Ukrenergo', the Ukrainian side", said Tofan.

Recall, on Tuesday afternoon, Moldovans were warned about the risk of emergency outages and urged to save during peak hours of electricity consumption.

Earlier, Moldova approved electricity and water saving measures due to the shallowing of the Dniester.
