UK extends sanctions against Russia, a number of banks fall under restrictions

On August 6, the United Kingdom extended sanctions against Russia, adding six financial institutions to the list. Restrictions were imposed against Ozon Bank, Russian Export-Import Bank, Center-invest Bank, Realist Bank, Stavr Bank, and Teleport Bank.

The assets of these institutions in the UK jurisdiction are subject to freezing. Restrictions will also apply to trust services and holding managerial positions. UK financial institutions are prohibited from maintaining correspondent relationships with sanctioned banks and from making payments to, from, or through their accounts.

In total, the new package includes 13 individuals and entities, as well as six vessels. Other sanctioned companies include the Russian Northern Engineering, the Indian Frion Ship Management, and four suppliers of goods and technologies that, according to UK authorities, could contribute to the destabilization of Ukraine.

Transport sanctions were imposed on the vessels Arctic Express, Perseas, Torvian, Asteras, Visund, and Zenturo. Arctic Express is associated with transporting Russian liquefied gas to third countries, while the remaining vessels are linked to transporting oil or petroleum products of Russian origin.

Sanctioned vessels are prohibited from entering UK ports. Authorities can also detain them or require them to leave the country's territorial waters. Additionally, the vessels will not be able to receive technical, personnel, operational, brokerage, and financial services in the UK.
