Dollar under demand pressure, but NBU restrains market from another surge

For the third day in a row, the same situation is repeating on the interbank foreign exchange market. After the start of trading, dollar quotes went up and by the time of writing had risen to 44.79 UAH on the ‘bid’ and 44.81 UAH on the ‘offer’.

Higher than that, according to the portal ‘Kurs Ukrainy’, they cannot climb: the growth of quotes is braked by the National Bank, fulfilling all purchase orders at prices from 44.80 UAH. The euro on the interbank foreign exchange market of Ukraine on Friday is trading in the range of 51.52–51.59 UAH on the ‘bid’ — slightly lower than yesterday. On the international FOREX market, the euro has been undergoing a correction since yesterday after it failed to climb above the level of 1.1560 dollars.

The price tags for cash dollars stabilized, and in the capital they showed a slight decrease. While yesterday at lunchtime, wholesale exchange offices in Kyiv sold dollars at 44.72 UAH, today there are offers at 44.70 UAH. In Lutsk, dollars are sold at 44.73 UAH, in Odesa — at 44.75–44.80 UAH, in Chernivtsi — at 44.77 UAH, in Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv and Poltava — at 44.80 UAH. As of 11:30, Ukrainian banks sell dollars at prices from 44.79 UAH at Bank Lviv, up to 45.25 UAH at Zaporizhia’s Metbank. As for the euro, at the moment the cheapest deal can be found at Bank Lviv at 51.62 UAH.

Oil prices went up again after several days of stability. A barrel of the popular Brent grade went up to $84.38 per barrel; it is currently trading in the range of $82.98–83.36 per barrel.

On crypto exchanges, the prices of major cryptocurrencies are trading on Friday at previously reached levels. Bitcoin on the popular crypto exchange Binance rose to $64,999 per coin a day ago, and Ethereum — to $1,920.51 per coin. Currently, Bitcoin is sold at $64,610–64,630, and Ethereum — at $1,910–1,915 per coin.
