Ukraine Completed Repairs of Five Nuclear Power Units
Ukraine has completed scheduled repairs with nuclear fuel reloading at five nuclear power units. The works are being carried out as part of the energy system's preparation for the 2026/2027 autumn-winter period.
In addition to nuclear power units, specialists have repaired two hydro-units at pumped storage power plants, one hydro-unit at a hydroelectric power plant, and a mobile gas turbine unit. Repairs of other power units and hydro-units are ongoing.
The works are performed according to schedules agreed with NEC "Ukrenergo" and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
According to the head of "Energoatom", Pavlo Kovtoniuk, the company managed to reduce the total duration of the repair campaign by 21 days. This allowed for earlier return of some capacities to the energy system and generation of additional electricity.
During the heating season, "Energoatom" plans to ensure the operation of all nine nuclear power units located on the territory controlled by Ukraine.
This concerns the power units of the South Ukraine, Rivne, and Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plants. The six units of the occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP are currently not generating electricity.
