Oschadbank opened a UAH 2.5 billion credit line for Kyiv
Oschadbank signed a UAH 2.5 billion loan agreement with the Kyiv City Council. The raised funds have already been received by the capital's development budget and are to be used to strengthen the city's energy infrastructure resilience.
The financing will be directed towards implementing the Kyiv Territorial Community Resilience Plan. It provides for measures necessary for the stable operation of electricity and heat supply systems under conditions of Russian attacks and possible emergencies.
The bank stated that the loan should enhance the capital's ability to withstand military threats and reduce the risk of prolonged energy and heat outages during the 2026/2027 heating season.
The loan agreement will be valid until December 31, 2028. Information on specific facilities where the raised funds will be spent and a detailed funding breakdown was not disclosed.
Kyiv Council Budget and Socio-Economic Development President Andrii Vitrenko stated that receiving the loan will allow the city to finance priority projects in a timely manner. According to him, the funds should provide additional protection for critical infrastructure and stable operation of city systems.
Oschadbank Board Chairman Serhii Naumov called the deal an example of cooperation between a state bank and local authorities under war conditions. He stressed that investments in the energy resilience of the capital are of strategic importance for millions of residents and the operation of enterprises.
Kyiv continues to restore energy facilities damaged by Russian strikes, install backup generation sources, and strengthen critical infrastructure protection. The new lending is to become one of the sources of funding for these measures.
