Lights returned to most consumers in Odesa, emergency outages remain

Power engineers have restored electricity supply to most homes in Odesa after the massive Russian attack on the night of August 9. At the same time, around 2,600 families remain without power in the Peresyp district of the city.

Emergency repair crews continue work in heavy mode. A significant part of Odesa and the region currently receives power through temporary schemes, as damaged equipment has not yet been fully restored.

Why emergency outages are in place

Due to hot weather, the load on networks has grown, and temporary schemes cannot deliver all the necessary electricity volume to consumers. To avoid further damage to equipment and large-scale accidents, power engineers are forced to implement emergency outages.

These restrictions are introduced without pre-announced schedules - depending on network conditions and consumption levels. Thus, power interruptions are possible even in houses that have already been reconnected after the attack.

DTEK urged residents of Odesa and the region to use electricity wisely and not turn on several powerful devices simultaneously. It is particularly important to reduce load on the network during peak consumption hours - from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
