Russia's largest petrochemical complex halted operations after a drone attack

The "ZapSibNeftekhim" petrochemical complex of the Russian holding "Sibur" in Tobolsk, Tyumen Oblast, halted operations after a drone attack.

According to Reuters, the enterprise was damaged as a result of a drone attack on Monday, August 10. Three industry sources told the agency about this.

The attack on the enterprise was confirmed earlier by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to its information, the central gas fractionation unit, with a capacity of about 6.6 million tons of raw material per year, was hit. The extent of the damage is being determined.

According to the OSINT analysis by Astra, the unit belongs to the "ZapSibNeftekhim" enterprise – Russia's largest petrochemical complex. The plant processes by-products of oil production and produces about 2.5 million tons of polymers per year. The obtained raw materials are used, in particular, for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene.

The Governor of Tyumen Oblast, Alexander Moor, reported that after the fall of several drones on the territory of one of the industrial enterprises, a fire broke out. He did not specify the name of the facility. No injuries were reported.
