Enterprises damaged in Novorossiysk after massive attack, fires reported in port

On the night of August 12, Novorossiysk in Russia’s Krasnodar region came under a massive attack by drones and unmanned boats. Local authorities confirmed damage to at least four enterprises, 21 residential buildings, and other facilities. According to preliminary reports, the city’s port infrastructure was also hit.

According to Exilenova+, a fire broke out on the premises of the Novorossiysk Grain Products Plant after the attack. The facility is a major port transshipment complex comprising two elevators and port structures. Its total capacity is 300,000 tons, and its berths can accommodate vessels with a deadweight of up to 72,000 tons.

The channel also reported hits on grain and oil facilities within the port infrastructure. The NASA FIRMS satellite monitoring system recorded numerous fire hotspots in the city. The Russian authorities have not officially named the damaged enterprises, so the extent of destruction in the port is still being clarified.

The port of Novorossiysk is used not only as a vital export hub but also for mooring Russian Navy vessels. According to an OSINT analysis by Astra, school No. 15, located relatively close to the base of Russian warships, was damaged after the attack. A hole appeared in the building’s facade at the first-floor level, and windows were shattered.

There are currently no confirmed reports of damage to ships or other military facilities in Novorossiysk.

Initially, Mayor Andrei Kravchenko reported damage to six residential buildings, a commercial building, and a construction site area. Later, Krasnodar region Governor Veniamin Kondratyev stated that drone debris fell on 21 residential buildings and four enterprises. Temporary accommodation centers have been set up for residents of damaged buildings, housing about 90 people.

As a result of the attack in the Krasnodar region, two people died and 13 others were injured. In Novorossiysk, an eight-year-old child was killed, and eight people, including another child, were hospitalized.

In the village of Volna, Temryuk district, drone debris fell in the yard of a private house. The injured man succumbed to his injuries. In Anapa, a residential building was damaged and two people were affected; in Gelendzhik, three private households were damaged, and two more people were injured.
