"Ukrposhta" has simplified utility payments and bank card top-ups

Effective August 13, "Ukrposhta" will stop requiring the taxpayer registration card number for a number of payments. The changes will be introduced after the company's IT systems are updated.This was announced by Ukrposhta CEO Ihor Smilyanskyi.

The Taxpayer Registration Card Number, also known as the tax number, will no longer be required for:

• paying for mobile phone services;
• topping up a bank card with cash in the amount of up to UAH 5,000;
• paying utility bills in cash within UAH 5,000.

An exception remains the payment of taxes: during such operations indicating the tax number is mandatory.

"Ukrposhta" officially informed the National Bank of its decision. According to Smilyanskyi, the company relies on the regulator's public clarifications and the wording of the NBU resolution, which allows choosing one of the provided methods of payer identification.

Starting from the end of the week, the operator also plans to conceal some digits of bank card numbers on receipts. The company stated that it has received corresponding confirmation from international payment systems.

In addition, "Ukrposhta" asked the NBU to approve the publication of the results of the audit, following which the operator earlier began to indicate expanded personal data of customers in payment documents.

Earlier in early August, a dispute arose between the company and the regulator over the design of receipts. "Ukrposhta" claimed that after the audit it had to print tax numbers and full card numbers, while the NBU stated that it had not made such a requirement for paying for utility services.
