As of August 2026, Russia has accumulated about 6.2 thousand strike drones of the "Geran" family of various modifications. They are being prepared for massive combined strikes on the territory of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to the publication 'Militarnyi'.

According to intelligence, the production capacities of the Russian Federation do not yet allow the Russian forces to continuously maintain maximum launch intensity. Therefore, between large-scale raids, the aggressor country accumulates significant stocks of strike drones.

The most massive attacks may include from 600 to 1000 drones. During accumulation periods, Russian forces usually employ about 150-200 drones per single raid, occasionally their number reaches approximately 300.

During the day of May 13–14, Russia launched about 1600 drones of various types at Ukraine. The monthly number of employed devices in 2026 has already reached 6–6.5 thousand units. A similar indicator was also recorded in July 2025.

Production of the new strike drones "Geran-4" and "Geran-5" in Russia is estimated at roughly 3 thousand units per month. This figure does not include the output of the piston-engine "Geran-2".

Despite such rates, the Russian Federation is still unable to conduct maximum intensity attacks continuously throughout the entire month. Periods of relatively lower launch numbers may indicate preparation and accumulation of means for the next major raid.

Earlier, it became known that Russia had ceased production of the jet-powered "Geran-3" and shifted to the production of a newer model "Geran-4", whose airframe is specially adapted for a more powerful jet engine.
