Ukraine increased grain exports by almost 5% since the start of the season - Ministry of Agrarian Policy

Ukraine has exported 2.952 million tons of grain and leguminous crops since the beginning of the 2026/2027 marketing year. That is 4.8% more than over the same period last season.

This is evidenced by the State Customs Service data published by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy as of August 12. On that same date last year, the supply volume was 2.818 million tons.

Including flour, total exports of grain, leguminous crops and their processing products reached 2.955 million tons. Last year the figure was 2.826 million tons – so the increase is 4.6%.

Growth was driven by corn

The main driver of the overall export increase was corn. Since the start of the season, Ukraine has supplied 1.376 million tons of this crop to foreign markets – 66.4% more than last year, when 827 thousand tons were exported.

Meanwhile, wheat exports fell by 18.3% – from 1.517 million to 1.239 million tons. Barley supplies decreased by 28.1% – from 463 thousand to 333 thousand tons. Rye has not been exported since the start of the season, just like a year earlier.

In August, the export pace of major crops remains below last year’s levels. Ukraine shipped 175 thousand tons of wheat against 759 thousand tons over the corresponding period in August 2025. Barley exports amounted to 37 thousand against 206 thousand tons, and corn – 68 thousand against 184 thousand tons.

Flour supplies since the start of the 2026/2027 marketing year decreased by 54.1% – to 2.8 thousand tons. In grain equivalent, the volume was 3.7 thousand tons against 8.1 thousand tons a year earlier.

The marketing year for grain crops in Ukraine runs from July to June of the next calendar year.
