Banks have financed energy projects for over UAH 60 billion

Ukrainian banks have started financing energy projects for businesses and households totaling UAH 60.4 billion. The programs are being implemented in 21 regions of the country, the National Bank of Ukraine reported.

As of the beginning of August 2026, the financing was distributed as follows:

  • UAH 56.1 billion directed to business projects;
  • UAH 4.3 billion - for household energy needs.

Compared to the beginning of July, the total amount of financing increased by UAH 4.4 billion, or almost 8%. A month earlier, banks reported UAH 52 billion for businesses and UAH 4 billion for households.

Thanks to bank funds, enterprises are implementing projects for the restoration and development of generation with a total capacity of 1.938 GW. The largest amounts of financing are directed to the construction of solar power plants, gas, hydro, bio, and wind installations, as well as the purchase of generators.

Separately, banks are lending for the creation of energy storage systems, the purchase of inverters and batteries, and the modernization of thermal equipment. The total capacity of such projects has reached 813 MW - 62 MW more than at the beginning of July.

The gross portfolio of current energy loans, including repayments, at the beginning of August amounted to UAH 39.3 billion. Of this amount, UAH 36 billion was for business loans, and another UAH 3.3 billion for loans to households.

Thus, the figure of UAH 60.4 billion reflects the total volume of projects that banks have started financing within the framework of the memorandum. Borrowers' current debt is lower due to the gradual repayment of previously issued loans.

The memorandum provides for financing the restoration of energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks and the development of autonomous energy sources. The NBU has also revised the requirements for assessing credit risks and increased the coefficients for taking into account the value of energy equipment pledged to banks as collateral.
