In July 2026, the Defense Forces of Ukraine inflicted on the Russian army the largest monthly losses in automotive equipment since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. During the month, 13,998 units of enemy vehicles and fuel tankers were destroyed or put out of action, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports, citing data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Losses of Russian personnel were also high. According to the estimate of the General Staff, they amounted to 42,860 people in July. The Ministry of Defense notes that this is the highest monthly figure since January 2025 and the fourth highest for the entire period of the full-scale war.

As of August 12, the total estimated losses of the Russian army in personnel since February 24, 2022, reached 1,461,660 people. The General Staff regularly emphasizes that the data are updated as new information becomes available.

Record losses of Russian automotive equipment

The Ministry of Defense paid special attention to strikes on Russian military logistics. In July, the Russian forces lost 13,998 units of automotive equipment — such a quantity in one month had not been previously recorded by the Ukrainian military.

Motor vehicles are used by the Russian army for the delivery of personnel, ammunition, fuel, and other supplies. Therefore, the Ministry of Defense considers the defeat of automotive equipment together with strikes on other elements of Russian military logistics.

At the same time, the Defense Forces continued to strike the Russian air defense. During July, 68 units of air defense systems were hit.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense reported that during July, Ukrainian units also struck bridges, crossings, warehouses, air defense, and electronic warfare facilities that the Russian forces used to support combat operations.

More than 2,000 artillery systems and 162 tanks

The Russian army also sustained significant losses in heavy equipment. In July, the Defense Forces destroyed 162 Russian tanks. The most successful single day was July 22, when, according to the Ukrainian side, 28 tanks were hit.

In addition, over the month, the Russian forces lost 204 armored fighting vehicles and 2,016 artillery systems.

For comparison, in June, the Defense Forces also put more than 2,000 Russian artillery systems out of action. At that time, this figure became the maximum for the corresponding period, after which the intensity of Russian artillery damage remained high in July.

DELTA separately records confirmed hits

In parallel, the Ministry of Defense publishes statistics of targets whose hit is confirmed in the DELTA combat system. According to the agency, hits on 30,957 Russian servicemen were verified in the system in July. Most of such cases were recorded in the Donetsk region.

This statistics differs from the General Staff’s overall assessment, as DELTA records the results confirmed in the system. In July, hits on 259 Russian tanks and a record 236 boats and small craft were also confirmed via DELTA, as well as the destruction of a large number of drones.

Thus, the July results published by the Ministry of Defense demonstrate the simultaneous pressure of the Defense Forces on several key components of the Russian army — personnel, transport logistics, artillery, armored vehicles, and air defense.
