Russia is more actively striking Ukraine with DPRK ballistic missiles - The Telegraph
After a long pause, Russia has begun more actively using North Korean KN-23 and KN-24 ballistic missiles against Ukraine. Pyongyang has transferred new batches of weapons to Moscow, reports The Telegraph.
According to the publication, such missiles were used, in particular, during a night strike on Zaporizhzhia on August 11. Russia is trying to intensify shelling of Ukrainian cities amid a critical shortage of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems.
Earlier, Kurs Ukrainy wrote that the use of KN-23 after a long pause may indicate that Russia has received new stocks of North Korean missiles.
DPRK unit could have been redeployed to Voronezh
A source in Ukrainian military intelligence told The Telegraph that a North Korean missile unit has begun deploying in Russia's Voronezh region.
The unit may receive six launchers and up to 120 ballistic missiles. At the same time, this number is an estimate of its possible complement, not a confirmation that all missiles are already on Russian territory.
The supply of missiles is only part of the military cooperation between the two countries. The DPRK has transferred millions of artillery shells to Russia, and its servicemen have already taken part in combat operations against Ukraine.
Up to 50,000 more troops may be sent to Russia
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Pyongyang could send up to 50,000 servicemen to Russia. Such a contingent would allow Moscow to maintain pressure on the front and postpone a new wave of mobilization inside the country.
For the DPRK, participation in the war opens access to combat experience, data on the use of modern weapons, funding, and Russian military technologies. This includes, in particular, air defense and electronic warfare systems.
Zelenskyy previously warned that the use of North Korean missiles and troops against Ukraine helps the DPRK identify and correct shortcomings in its weapons. In the future, the acquired experience could increase the threat to South Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and other countries in the region.
