Poland may hand over new batch of Patriot missiles to Ukraine in coming days

Poland may decide within the next few days to hand over to Ukraine another batch of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.

This was stated on RMF FM by Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka, State Secretary at the Ministry of National Defence of Poland.

According to her, the final decision is to be made at the highest level. During its preparation, the Polish authorities must assess the available ammunition stocks and take into account the security of the country's citizens.

"I think it's a matter of the coming days", - said the representative of the Polish Ministry of Defence.

Sobkowiak-Czarnecka noted that consultations on the possible supply have been ongoing with the United States and NATO.

Warsaw's position was also influenced by the recent incident when a Russian missile flew into Polish territory. According to the official, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz is leaning towards handing over a new batch, as it is safer for Poland for Russian missiles to be destroyed over Ukraine.

Poland has previously handed over five PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems to Ukraine. The Polish government stated that this supply was agreed with the allies and did not weaken the country's ability to defend its own airspace.
