Ukraine reduced iron ore exports by almost 30%
Ukraine exported 13.9 million tons of iron ore raw materials in January-July 2026. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of shipments decreased by 27.3%.
China remained the largest buyer of Ukrainian iron ore. In seven months, 6.42 million tons of raw materials were shipped there, which is 36% less than in January-July 2025.
Ukrainian companies exported 2.44 million tons of ore to Slovakia – 12% less year-on-year. Shipments to Poland decreased by 36%, to 1.74 million tons.
In July alone, Ukraine exported 1.87 million tons of iron ore raw materials. This is 7.2% less than in June and 37.6% less compared to July last year.
July shipments to China decreased the most: exports amounted to 536.6 thousand tons, down 32% month-on-month and 69% year-on-year. 470.2 thousand tons were sent to Slovakia, and 345.6 thousand tons to Poland.
Revenue from ore exports in seven months amounted to $1.08 billion, which is 14.5% less than in the corresponding period of 2025. In July, exports brought $148 million – 12% less compared to June and 22% less year-on-year.
In the whole of 2025, Ukraine exported 30.99 million tons of iron ore, reducing shipments by 8%. Last year China purchased 16.41 million tons of Ukrainian raw materials, Slovakia – 4.4 million tons, and Poland – 4.17 million tons.
