In Poland, average salary approaches 10 thousand zlotys, but half of workers receive less

The median salary in Poland in February 2026 was 7,690.82 zlotys gross. This means that half of the workers received no more than this amount and the other half no less. Meanwhile, the average salary in the country reached 9,966.32 zlotys gross, according to new data from the Polish Central Statistical Office (GUS).

Thus, the median salary was 22.8% lower than the average. This difference is explained by the fact that the average indicator is significantly influenced by the high incomes of the highest-paid workers, while the median better reflects the salary of a typical employee.

Compared to January, the median salary increased by 3.3%, and over the year - by 7.3%. The average salary increased respectively by 6.6% for the month and by 6.4% compared to February 2025.

The gap between the incomes of different groups remains significant. 10% of the lowest-paid workers received no more than 4,806 zlotys gross - this is the level of the minimum wage. Meanwhile, the salary of 10% of the highest-paid workers was at least 17,111 zlotys.

Pay also differs noticeably depending on the size of the employer. In companies with nine or fewer employees, the median was only 4,806 zlotys. In enterprises with a thousand or more employees, it reached 9,146.18 zlotys - almost twice as much.

An even greater gap is visible in average salaries. In the smallest companies, employees on average received 6,274.16 zlotys gross, while in enterprises with a thousand or more employees - 11,801.15 zlotys.

Among industries, the highest median salary GUS recorded in mining - 13,794.41 zlotys. And the highest average salary was in the sector of telecommunications, programming, computer infrastructure and other information services - 16,453.73 zlotys gross.

More current statistics show that wage growth in Poland continued in subsequent months. In June, the average salary in the enterprise sector was 9,401.58 zlotys gross - 5.9% more than a year earlier.

However, this indicator should not be directly compared to the February 9,966.32 zlotys. The detailed salary distribution statistics cover the national economy using a broader methodology, while the current monthly indicator refers to the enterprise sector. Therefore, to assess how much a typical worker in Poland earns, the median indicator is more indicative.
