The government announced salary increases for 150 thousand employees of "Ukrzaliznytsia"
From September 1, "Ukrzaliznytsia" plans to increase salaries for employees by 10-15%. The changes are intended to cover more than 150 thousand railway workers, reported Mykola Kalashnik, Minister of Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport of Ukraine.
Priority in the review of wages will be given to representatives of scarce professions. According to the minister, additional resources will be primarily directed to employees who repair locomotives and cars, restore damaged infrastructure, and directly ensure train movement.
Kalashnik noted that the decision was discussed with railway workers, the management of "Ukrzaliznytsia", the company's supervisory board, and members of parliament. The company should inform employees of the specific increase conditions for different staff categories in the near future.
One of the sources of additional financial resources for the railway was the indexation of freight tariffs. From August 1, 2026, tariffs for freight rail transportation were increased by 30%. The funds are needed by the company, in particular, for transportation, repairs, and restoration of infrastructure after Russian attacks.
The next stage of freight tariff indexation is planned for January 1, 2027. According to Kalashnik, this should create an opportunity to continue the phased review of "Ukrzaliznytsia" employee salaries next year as well.
