Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises sharply reduced production of the main types of products in July 2026. Compared to June, steel output decreased by almost 34%, pig iron by more than 35%, and rolled products by 36%.

According to the Ukrmetalurgprom association, in July Ukraine produced 457 thousand tons of steel. In June the figure was 690.8 thousand tons. Thus, monthly steel production fell by 33.8%.

Pig iron production over the same period decreased from 670.6 thousand to 432.2 thousand tons, or by 35.6%. Output of rolled products fell from 599.8 thousand to 382.7 thousand tons – by 36.2%.

July results are much worse also compared to the same month last year. Steel production fell by 21.3% against July 2025, pig iron production by 37.6%, and rolled products by 30.7%.

The sharp drop in July worsened the cumulative results of the metallurgical industry. In January-July 2026, Ukrainian enterprises produced 4.093 million tons of pig iron, which is 6.1% less than in the same period of 2025.

Steel production in seven months amounted to 4.023 million tons and decreased by 5.6% year-on-year. Rolled output fell by 8.3% to 3.322 million tons.

For comparison, for the first half of the year the decline was much smaller: steel production lagged last year's indicator by 3.2%, rolled products by 4.3%, and pig iron by only 0.2%. So precisely the weak July results noticeably worsened the industry's performance since the start of the year.

Ukrmetalurgprom notes that the July 2026 data for PJSC "Zaporizhstal" are estimated, so total production volumes may still be refined.
