Russia damages energy facility in Chernihiv: over 10,000 consumers without power
In Chernihiv, an energy facility was damaged as a result of a Russian attack. More than 10,000 consumers lost electricity. This was reported by JSC “Chernihivoblenergo”.
Power engineers will begin emergency repair work at the damaged facility as soon as the security situation allows. The timeline for full restoration of power supply is not yet specified.
New blackouts also in five more regions
Russian troops continue to attack civilian energy infrastructure in other regions. According to “Ukrenergo”, as of the morning of August 17, new blackouts due to drone and artillery shelling were recorded in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
Where the security situation allows, power engineers are already carrying out emergency repair work.
Electricity consumption up by 6%
At the same time, electricity consumption in Ukraine is increasing due to rising temperatures. On Monday, August 17, as of 09:30, it was 6% higher than at the same time on the previous working day – Friday, August 14.
Ukrenergo attributes the increased load on the power system to noticeable warming in most regions. The daily maximum consumption on August 16 was recorded in the evening and corresponded to the level of the previous Sunday, August 9.
Power engineers recommend shifting heavy electricity usage to the period from 10:00 to 16:00, when industrial solar power plants are most effective. At the same time, from 18:00 to 22:00, consumers are asked to limit the use of powerful electrical appliances.
