Ukraine increased agri-food trade with the EU to $8.55 billion

In the first half of 2026, the turnover of agricultural trade between Ukraine and the European Union increased by 11% compared to the same period last year - to 8.553 billion dollars. This was reported by the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics".

Compared to January-June 2025, mutual trade turnover increased by 847 million dollars. At the same time, the growth of Ukrainian exports amounted to 624 million dollars, while imports increased by 221 million dollars.

As a result, the positive for Ukraine balance of agricultural trade with the EU increased to 3.468 billion dollars.

The main trading partners of Ukraine in the European Union remain Poland, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and France. These six countries account for about 70% of the total turnover of agricultural products between Ukraine and the EU.

In certain areas, Ukraine is already actively using duty-free export quotas. As of the beginning of July, the annual quota for wheat had been fully exhausted. The quota for apple juice was used by 91%, for poultry meat - by 75%, for eggs and egg products - also by 75%.

In addition, the quota for ethanol was filled by 64%, for honey - by 61%, and for sugar and sweet corn - by 59%.

The Institute of Agrarian Economics notes that due to difficulties with the use of sea routes, Ukrainian companies are increasingly using transit routes through European countries. At the same time, most of the stipulated quotas for agri-food products are not yet exhausted.
