Over 600 drones attacked Moscow region: Wildberries warehouse damaged (Updated)

On the night of August 18, the Moscow region was subjected to a massive drone attack, as a result of which the Wildberries logistics complex, a transformer substation, commercial facilities and other infrastructure were damaged. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that from the evening of August 17 until 5:00, 620 UAVs were flying towards the region, of which 180 were allegedly destroyed by air defense systems.

The consequences of the attack are reported by Astra, citing the Governor of Moscow Oblast, Andrei Vorobyov. According to him, more than 150 drones were shot down over the territory of the region. They were recorded, in particular, in Bogorodsky, Ramensky, Pavlovo-Posadsky, Orekhovo-Zuevsky, Voskresensky, Stupinsky and Kolomna districts, as well as in Elektrostal.

One of the damaged commercial facilities was the Wildberries logistics complex in the Bogorodsky district near "Atlant Park". Vorobyov announced a drone strike on the warehouse and a fire that was contained.

Wildberries itself confirmed the damage to the complex, but stated that the wall of the building was hit by debris. The workers of the facility were evacuated in advance. According to the company, the goods were not damaged, and the consequences of the attack have already been eliminated.

Damage was also recorded at other facilities. In Elektrostal, a transformer substation and a car were damaged. In Kolomna, after the fall of debris, a trade pavilion near the "Globus" shopping center caught fire, and a store and other buildings were also damaged.

In Kotelniki, a fire broke out on the territory of a residential complex under construction: scaffolding and insulation materials were burning. In Pavlovsky Posad, there were also reports of a fire in a building on 1 Maya Street.

Sobyanin reported on the work of Russian air defense throughout the night with a series of posts. As of approximately 6:00, from his previous statements it was implied that air defense forces shot down 93 drones that were flying towards Moscow. Later, the mayor spoke of 620 UAVs heading towards the Moscow region from the evening of the previous day, and 180 destroyed in the region itself.

It is currently impossible to independently confirm the number of drones used and shot down declared by the Russian authorities.

In the background, damage to residential facilities remains. According to Vorobyov, a private house completely burned down in the Pavlovo-Posadsky district, and in Pavlovsky Posad the roof of an apartment building caught fire. There were also reports of damage to private houses in other areas.

The governor of Moscow Oblast reported three injured: a 10-year-old girl in the Ramensky district, a woman in the Bogorodsky district and a 27-year-old man in Kolomna. According to him, they are all under medical supervision.
