On the morning of August 18, Russian troops launched a missile strike on Pechenihy, Kharkiv region. 10 people were killed, and the number of injured as of 10:47 increased to 17, reported the head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Russians struck a crowded intersection where a post office and shops are located, and residential buildings are nearby.

According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, 10 private houses, a cafe, a post office, a shop, and at least seven cars were damaged as a result of the attack.

Initial data from the regional authorities indicated eight injured, but within less than an hour their number increased to 17. Teams of medics and other emergency services are working on the site, providing necessary assistance to the wounded.

Zelenskyy noted that rescuers have already extinguished a fire that broke out after the strike. Operational and emergency services continue to work on the site and establish all circumstances of the attack.

"We will definitely respond to this Russian strike. And it is no less important that partners complement our just kinetic responses with their steps in pressure on Russia and support for Ukraine", - said the president.
