Bezuhla returned to the "Servant of the People" faction: says it may be temporary

People's Deputy Mariana Bezuhla announced that she has returned to the parliamentary faction "Servant of the People", which she left by her own application in the summer of 2024. Among the reasons, she named the creation of a special parliamentary commission on military justice and the opportunity to constantly participate in faction meetings.

Bezuhla announced her return on Telegram. At the same time, the deputy assumed that her re-membership in "Servant of the People" may be temporary.

"I explained why I returned to "Servant of the People": to create a special commission on military justice, which cannot be headed by a non-faction deputy, and also to have a stable right to participate in all meetings, not to be silent there, of course. It may be temporary", - wrote Bezuhla.

Bezuhla announced her intention to rejoin the presidential faction back in mid-July. At that time, "Kurs Ukrainy" wrote that the deputy linked her decision to the preparation of a temporary investigative commission on the military justice system.

Bezuhla claimed that there was a problem with promoting the relevant resolution due to her non-faction status. After returning, she also promised to regularly attend "Servant of the People" meetings and openly express her position there.

At the same time, the deputy had previously emphasized that, despite leaving the faction, she continued to vote for the vast majority of initiatives of President Volodymyr Zelensky and participated in individual meetings with representatives of the monomajority.

Bezuhla left "Servant of the People" in 2024

Mariana Bezuhla was elected to the Verkhovna Rada in 2019 from the "Servant of the People" party in single-mandate district No. 217 in Kyiv.

In July 2024, she left the parliamentary faction by her own application. At that time, Bezuhla explained the decision by disagreements with the faction's work and stated that she did not want to further formally associate herself with it.

Now the deputy has returned to "Servant of the People", but has already made it clear that she does not consider this decision necessarily permanent.

Faction "Servant of the People" has grown to 229 deputies

Bezuhla's return took place on the same day when two more deputies from "Servant of the People" - Bohdan Morklianyk and Viktoriia Rieznikova - took the oath in the Verkhovna Rada. They were elected according to the party list back in 2019 and received mandates after vacant seats appeared in parliament.

Thus, after today's changes, the size of the "Servant of the People" faction increased from 226 to 229 people's deputies. This is only three mandates more than the constitutional minimum of 226 deputies required for a parliamentary majority. The same number of votes is needed to pass laws, resolutions and other acts of the Verkhovna Rada in cases where the Constitution does not provide for a different number of votes.
