Military personnel will retain all payments during treatment: the Council voted for the law

The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that provides for the full preservation of all types of monetary support for military personnel during treatment and rehabilitation. The guarantee will also apply to military personnel being treated in medical facilities abroad.

This refers to draft law No. 13704-d on medical care, rehabilitation, and prosthetics for military personnel, veterans, and those released from captivity. Parliament adopted the document in the second reading and as a whole on August 19.

The law also stipulates that treatment and rehabilitation for military personnel, veterans, and those released from captivity will be provided in full at the expense of the state budget. While staying in medical and rehabilitation facilities, they are entitled to improved nutrition.

If the state of health requires it, the rehabilitation of a serviceman can be extended in the long-term rehabilitation period. In addition, the decision of the military medical commission regarding the degree of suitability for military service can be challenged in court.

Separate guarantees concern prosthetics. Military personnel who sustained wounds or injuries as a result of hostilities or captivity, as well as persons with disabilities due to war, will not be limited in the choice of prosthetist and company that will provide prosthetics or orthotics services according to medical prescriptions.

After the law enters into force, the Cabinet of Ministers, within three months, must, in particular, prepare legislative changes on the procedure for rehabilitation and prosthetics and develop a state program "Save the Limb" for 2026-2030. It should be aimed at preventing amputations and restoring limb function.

Meanwhile, the new norms have not yet entered into force. As of August 19, the card of draft law No. 13704-d shows the status "Preparing for signature".
