On August 20, a large-scale emergency power outage occurred in Sumy, affecting the operation of the city's infrastructure. Due to the lack of electricity, problems with water supply arose, and the operation of electric transport became more difficult.

The Sumy City Council reported this, citing city utility services.

Due to the power outage, the normal operation of the facilities of the utility enterprise "Miskvodokanal" ceased. As a result, water supply in the city is temporarily absent.

Utility workers associate the restoration of stable water supply with the restoration of electricity supply. Residents are asked to follow operational messages from city services.

The power outage also affected trolleybuses

Problems with electricity supply also affected the operation of public transport. The utility enterprise "Electroavtotrans" reported interruptions in the operation of trolleybuses due to the lack of power to the contact network.

Transport that depends on external power supply cannot operate normally. Passengers were urged to take the situation into account when planning trips around the city.

Emergency services are working to restore electricity supply. The exact timing for the return of power and stable operation of the water supply system has not been reported yet.

Sumy has repeatedly faced similar consequences of large-scale power outages. Due to the dependence of water intakes, pumping stations, and the contact network of electric transport on the energy system, power outages quickly affect several city services at once. Previously, the city authorities also reported the stoppage of water supply and trolleybuses during large-scale outages.
