Norway plans to extend assistance program to Ukraine for $9.2 billion

The Government of Norway will propose to the parliament to allocate Ukraine another 85 billion Norwegian kroner, or about $9.2 billion, in 2027. Thus, Oslo plans to maintain the volume of support approximately at the level of 2026.

The Government of Norway reported this after Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre's visit to Kyiv on August 23.

The proposal is to be submitted for approval to the Norwegian parliament - the Storting. Støre informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about it during a meeting in the Ukrainian capital.

The funds will be provided within the framework of the multi-year Nansen Support Programme for Ukraine and will be directed to both military and civilian needs.

According to the Norwegian government, the main part of the aid in 2027, as before, should go to military support. In particular, funding is provided for the procurement of products directly from the Ukrainian defense industry.

The exact distribution of the 85 billion kroner between military and civilian aid will be presented by the Norwegian government later.

In 2026, Norway also allocated 85 billion kroner for Ukraine. Of this amount, 70 billion kroner was directed to military support, and 15 billion to civilian and humanitarian aid.

Among the military funding priorities this year were air defense, drones, and artillery ammunition. Civilian funds were directed, among other things, to energy security, gas purchases, humanitarian aid, budget support, and reconstruction.

"Support and reconstruction of Ukraine are also important for Europe's security. Therefore, the government proposes to continue the extraordinary support in the amount of 85 billion kroner next year as well", - said Støre.
