Ukraine and Norway plan to sign a drone deal - Defense Ministry

Ukraine and Norway are preparing a separate agreement on cooperation in the field of drones - Drone Deal. Kyiv expects its signing and is ready to share other Ukrainian defense solutions with the Norwegian side.

This was announced by Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yevhen Khmara after a meeting with Chief of Defense of Norway General Eirik Kristoffersen.

"We are preparing a Drone Deal between our countries and expect its signing. We are ready to share other Ukrainian solutions as well", - stated Khmara.

Details of the future agreement, in particular its cost, possible production volumes or drone deliveries, have not yet been disclosed by the Defense Ministry.

During the negotiations, the Ukrainian side also informed Norway about the current needs of the Defense Forces. One of the main challenges Khmara named was the Russian jet-powered "Shaheds".

According to him, Ukraine is already developing means of countering such drones, but needs partners' assistance to quickly scale up relevant solutions.

Separately, the parties discussed strengthening missile defense. The Minister emphasized that the supply of interceptor missiles capable of countering Russian ballistic missiles remains critically important for Ukraine.

Khmara also stated that Ukraine continues to develop asymmetric means of destruction. According to him, in recent days important strikes were carried out on Russian targets, which should gradually reduce Russia's ability to produce and launch missiles against Ukraine.

Ukraine also considers defense-technological cooperation with Norway as mutually beneficial: in addition to receiving assistance from partners, Kyiv is ready to transfer its own combat experience and technological solutions.
